“Raportage Jeunesse/Junior Reporter” is an immersive initiative aimed at empowering French Second Language/Franco Youth of Newfoundland and Labrador High School youths to have the opportunity to take on the role of the reporter in their local communities to attend local events, such as sports, concerts, news happenings, and other community gatherings.

Our program will provide the youth with mentorship, resources, access, support, and guidance to turn their experiences and findings into articles for local papers, social media platforms, radio, and/or a dedicated blog. By actively engaging in the reporting process, the students can further develop their abilities and confidence in using the French language in their everyday lives, elevating linguistic insecurity as well as gaining a deeper connection to their community.

CPF-NFLD would support this project between January 13th to June 26, 2025, of the academic year.

12 sessions with experts to learn all about journalism, photography, video, redaction, visits to newsrooms, radio stations, and more.

Have your work published in local newspapers, the chance to visit a news room, the School of Cinema, the College of North Atlantic (CONA) journalism program, and finally, report activities within your community in both official languages.
