CPF Newfoundland & PEI are pleased to offer a Beginner Virtual French Course!
This 6-week virtual course is designed to give students the opportunity to learn French online for 1 hour/week with a maximum of 25 participants with Glenn Cake. This course is available to residents of Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. The courses are outlined for ages 18 and older.
Throughout the course, students will learn to talk about their personal environment and to interact in various daily-life situations.
Each class focuses on a specific situation of communication and builds on the previous one in order to gradually move towards basic conversations.
All students will have access to the student portal, where they will receive the materials and documents worked on in class, as well as assignments and additional exercises to complete, to advance effectively during their training.
*All participants will be expected to have a functioning microphone for both in class and assigned individual activities
About Glenn Cake!
Glenn Cake has 30 years of FSL (French as a second language) teaching experience. He has worked with students of all ages and completed his career as a lead distance education teacher with the Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation up until his retirement in 2020.
Provincially, his accomplishments include CPF Provincial French Teacher of the Year award, a Board of Directors position and a well respected Special Interest Council presenter in Newfoundland and Labrador. Nationally, he has been involved with the CASLT (Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers) for 15 years and served as the National Council representative.
In October of 2022, he will be recognized as the recipient of the Honorary Lifetime Membership Award, highlighting his contributions to the advancement of second language education throughout his career.
Glenn enjoys travelling with his wife and playing recreational pickleball and hockey in his spare time.
